Secondary joys and happiness are good and ultimately come from God as direct and indirect blessings. They only become a problem when they become more important than the joys and happiness we get from following Jesus. The assurance of salvation in Christ should always give us more joy and peace than the assurance that summer is going to come. The story of the Rich Young Ruler has much to teach us.
