After Zechariah's once-in-a-lifetime honor as priest that led to his divine encounter with Gabriel, we find Mary in a very ordinary, everyday scene having an encounter of her own. Mary is often called the first Christian or first disciple and her response to Gabriel can encourage and challenge us as we follow Jesus, too.
